A great walk for the dog
Great for walking the dogs
Loverly open space, plenty of wild life if you open your eyes
The nature reserve is either side of the River Avon. The smaller part (Old Sarum side) is less frequented and quieter with hardly any view of the river. It does, however, rise up for better views of the surrounding countryside. The paths are regularly mown and there are several benches. Crossing the bridge near the Five Rivers Leisure Centre and turning right will lead to the path along the other other side of the river. After a short distance the path becomes a boardwalk that follows the river course. At the end of the boardwalk there is a bench by the river and the route is a natural trodden path across the fields. Initially it diverges from the river but meets it again at a foot bridge where there is another bench. The whole area is wonderfully peaceful with so many fauna and flora species and the river is crystal clear.
A valley to walk through in wonderful peace ending with world heritage Stonehenge
